WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host Coppin State on Tuesday, April 3 with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Capital One Park. The game was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. but has been moved up an hour due to weather in the area. This will be the first meeting between the two sides in 2024.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown (19-8) is off to its best start in program history after sweeping Villanova over the weekend. This is the first time in the past 20 years that the Hoyas have started the season undefeated in BIG EAST play.
- Christian Ficca leads the Hoyas at the plate slashing .396/.492/.698 on the season. The senior has tallied 24 runs scored, 42 hits, 11 doubles, seven home runs and a team-leading 40 RBIs a mark that ranks 11th in the country.
- On the mound, Everett Catlett continues to dominate for GU. Against Villanova over the weekend, the Manassas, Virginia native went 6.2 innings while allowing two hits and no runs and struck out eight Wildcat batters. Catlett boasts a 3.20 ERA in 39.1 innings on the mound.
- The Hoya pitching staff currently leads the NCAA in pickoffs (12) and saves (14) after picking up two of each over the weekend.
- Nick Davis and Kai Leckszas are both top 35 in the nation in saves as Davis is tied for 13th with five and Leckszas is tied for 35th with four. Davis and Leckszas rank first and second in the conference in saves as the next closest player has three to their credit.
- The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST in base on balls (152) a mark that is good for 43rd nationally. GU leads the conference in double plays with 31, which ranks fourth in the country. The Hoyas are 30th in the nation in doubles (62). Georgetown is second in the conference in hits (274), third in on base percentage (.416) and first in runs (225).
ABOUT COPPIN STATE
- Coppin State (5-16) enters Wednesday's contest after being swept by Le Moyne over the weekend 17-1, 8-1 and 11-6.
- Damon Gaither is slashing .309/.414/.568 on the season. Gaither has 25 hits, 15 runs scored, three doubles, six home runs and 19 RBIs.
- Alek Elges leads Coppin State on the mound with a 1-3 record and a 6.29 ERA. In 34.1 innings of action, Elges has allowed 42 hits, 24 earned runs, seven doubles, two triples and five homers while walking 10.
