Hoyas Head to Indianapolis for Weekend Series Against Butler

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to face the Butler Bulldogs in a three-game series. Game one is slated for Friday, April 12 with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Bulldog Park.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (23-9) is coming off back-to-back midweek victories over Maryland and Towson. The Hoyas defeated Maryland 13-12 on Tuesday and then beat Towson 8-4 in 11 innings on Wednesday. Last weekend, the Hoyas secured their seventh-consecutive series win taking two out of three against Seton Hall with a walk off win on Sunday afternoon.
  • Christian Ficca leads the Hoyas at the plate slashing .376/.477/.656 on the season. The senior has 47 hits, 11 doubles, eight home runs and 45 RBIs on the season.
  • Everett Catlett has continued to dominate as the redshirt sophomore picked up his fourth weekly honor on Monday. Catlett tossed eight scoreless innings against Seton Hall last Sunday striking out six batters while allowing only three hits.
  • The Hoya pitching staff currently leads the nation in pickoffs with 14 on the season. GU is also second in the country in saves with 15.
  • Georgetown currently leads the country in double plays with 37. GU is second in the conference in doubles (69), first in hits (311), second in home runs (44) and is first in slugging percentage (.487).
  • Andrew Williams leads the BIG EAST in ERA with a 2.12 currently, a mark good for 25th in the country. Ficca leads the conference in RBIs with 45 which is good for 17th in the country. Nick Davis and Kai Leckszas lead the conference in saves with six and four, respectively. Michael Eze leads the conference in stolen bases with 20 which ranks 11th nationally. Catlett is first in the conference in strikeouts with 51.
 
ABOUT BUTLER
  • Butler (13-18) enters the series after dropping two midweek contests to Notre Dame and Evansville. The Bulldogs dropped their last weekend series to Creighton 2-1.
  • Carter Dorighi leads Butler at the plate slashing .387/.452/.540. Dorighi has 53 hits, six doubles, three triples, three home runs and 30 RBIs on the season.
  • On the mound, Tyler Banks leads the Bulldogs with a 2-4 record and a 7.64 ERA. Banks has seen 35.1 innings of action on the mound and has allowed 30 earned runs while striking out 29.
