Georgetown Travels to Baltimore to Face UMBC

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will make the quick trip to Baltimore to face UMBC in a midweek contest on Tuesday evening. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Alumni Field in Baltimore, Maryland.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (26-9) is coming off a weekend sweep of Butler as the Hoyas secured their eighth-consecutive weekend series win and sixth series sweep of the season. This is the best start in program history, and it was the first time in the last 20 years that the Hoyas have swept a BIG EAST opponent on the road.
  • GU went 5-0 last week picking up wins against Maryland and Towson on Tuesday and Wednesday before the weekend series. GU beat Maryland 13-12 and downed Towson 8-4 in an 11-inning contest.
  • Josh Rolling was electric for the Hoyas in three games last week slashing .727/.813/.909. Rolling tallied eight hits, five runs scored, two doubles and five RBIs to go with five walks.
  • Owen Carapellotti had a fantastic week for the Hoyas slashing .455/.571/.864. Carapellotti tallied 10 hits, eight runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, 11 RBIs and six walks.
  • Jake Hyde had an impressive week batting .381 with eight hits, eight runs scored, one double, two home runs, 10 RBIs and eight walks.
  • Andrew Citron was electric across two appearances for GU. Citron tossed six total innings picking up one save while allowing only three hits and no runs while fanning six.
  • Everett Catlett dominated once again for the Blue & Gray. Catlett, who was coming off his fourth-consecutive nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, tossed six scoreless innings against Butler en route to his fifth win of the season. Catlett allowed four hits and zero earned runs while fanning eight Butler batters. Catlett is yet to allow an earned run in conference play this season.  
 
ABOUT UMBC
  • UMBC (14-15) enters Tuesday's contest after sweeping UAlbany over the weekend by scores of 12-2, 13-5 and 12-7, respectively.
  • Justin Taylor leads UMBC at the plate slashing .347/.441/.526 on the season. Taylor has 33 hits, eight doubles, three home runs and 25 RBIs to go with 13 walks.
  • On the mound, UMBC is led by Sam Downs who boasts a 2-0 record and a 3.28 ERA in 35.2 innings of action. Downs has allowed 13 earned runs while striking out 27.

The Hoyas will be back in action this weekend as Georgetown hosts UConn for a three-game series. Game one of the series is slated for Friday, April 19 at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia.
