WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team makes its 17th appearance in the NCAA Tournament as it hosts Penn State in the Nation's Capital on Sunday. The Hoyas, seeded eighth in the draw and ranked No. 7 nationally, have advanced to reach the quarterfinals 11 times and the national semifinals once while the ninth-ranked Nittany Lions are making their seventh appearance in the NCAA postseason, including a semifinals appearance last season.

- The Hoyas (12-3) are coming off a thrilling 11-10 overtime victory over Villanova to win their sixth-straight BIG EAST Tournament Championship.
- Alexander Vardaro led the Hoyas with two goals and an assist while Patrick Crogan added two goals, including the game winner with 1:20 remaining in overtime.
- James Ball won 18 of 24 (.750) faceoffs and collected nine ground balls to go with a goal and an assist.
- Defensively, Ty Banks was credited with a pair of caused turnovers while Will Godine hauled in five ground balls. The Hoyas held their 12th opponent of the year to 10 goals or fewer.
- In goal, Anderson Moore (12-3) had 12 saves in the win.

- On the season, Carroll leads the Hoyas with 56 points (35G, 21A) while TJ Haley adds 48 (12G, 36A) and Graham Bundy Jr. chips in 44 (31G, 13A). Vardaro has 42 points (29G, 13A) and Crogan has 20 points (17G, 3A) while Jordan Wray (18 points), Joe Cesare (16 points), Kade Goldberg (15 points), Chase Llewellyn (14 points) and Schubert (12 points) are all in double figures as well.
- At the 'X', Ball has won 177 of 295 (.600) faceoffs and collected 90 ground balls in 15 games this season.
- Defensively, Banks has been credited with 19 caused turnovers while Dylan Hess has 16, Wallace Halpert adds 15, Seamus Foley has 13 and Wesley Chairs has 11.
- In goal, Moore (12-3) has a 9.11 goals-against average to rank fourth in the NCAA to go with a .527 save percentage and 148 saves.
Scouting Penn State
- The Nittany Lions are coming off a 16-4 loss to Michigan in the Big Ten Championship.
- TJ Malone, the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, leads PSU with 74 points (40G, 34A) while Matt Traynor adds 49 points (42G, 7A).
- On faceoffs, Chase Mullins and Colby Baldwin have combined to go 178-for-403 (441) with a total of 91 ground balls.
- Defensively, Alex Ross has been credited with 13 caused turnovers to go with 29 ground balls while both Will Costin and Sam Sweeney have 11 caused turnovers.
- In goal, Jack Fracyon was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Year and has started all 15 games for the Nittany Lions. He has a 9.75 GAA to go with 196 saves and a .575 save percentage this season.
Series History
- Sunday's meeting will be the 16th all-time between the two former ECAC rivals with Georgetown holding a 15-10 series lead.
- Penn State won the past two meetings, both 12-11 overtime victories, but the two teams haven't squared off since 2009.
