Hoyas Face Boston College in Midweek Contest

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will face Boston College in the Hoyas final nonconference game of the season on Tuesday, May 14. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Harrington Athletics Village.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (31-18) enters the contest after a 2-2 week. GU took one game against Xavier and defeated UMBC in a midweek contest last week.
  • Christian Ficca paces the Hoya offense slashing .356/.466/.618 on the season. The senior has 68 hits, 15 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs and 61 RBIs to go with 33 walks.
  • Andrew Williams and Everett Catlett lead GU on the mound as Williams boasts a 4-2 record while Catlett is 6-1 on the season. Williams boasts a 2.75 ERA in 55.2 innings of action, a mark good for first in the conference. Catlett boasts a 3.06 ERA in 67.2 innings on the mound.
  • GU is currently fourth in the country in saves with 18 and is second in the conference in ERA (4.78).
  • GU leads the BIG EAST in base on balls (267), batting average (.294), double plays (44), a mark good for 24th nationally. GU is second in the BIG EAST in doubles (107), second in ERA (4.78), second in hits (504), first in on base percentage (.408), first in runs (393), first in scoring (8.0 rpg) and first in slugging percentage (.488).
  • Jake Hyde is tied for the league lead in doubles with 19, Ficca is third in the conference in hits (68) and first in RBIs with 61, Owen Carapellotti is second in the BIG EAST in home runs (14), Nick Davis is second in the conference in saves with six and Michael Eze is first in stolen bases with 32.
 
ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
  • Boston College (22-27) is coming off a 1-2 weekend as the Eagles dropped two out of three to Maryland. In the Eagles last weekend series, BC was swept by Louisville in Boston.
  • Kyle Wolf leads BC at the plate slashing .320/.430/.519 on the season. Wolf has tallied 58 hits, 13 doubles, one triple and seven home runs to go with 42 RBIs and 17 walks.
  • On the mound, John West leads BC with a 5.00 ERA and a 1-4 record. West has tossed a team-high 72 innings this season and has allowed 40 earned runs while striking out 59.
 
UP NEXT
The Hoyas will be back in action this weekend as Georgetown will travel to Queens, New York to take on St. John's in the Hoyas final regular season series of the season. Game one is slated for Thursday, May 16 with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. GU will then travel to Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio on Monday for the BIG EAST Championships Presented by JEEP.
