  • Fans can tune in online on the ESPN+ and live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.
  • Georgetown will stay on the road this weekend and will face local-rival Maryland on Sunday.
About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown went 13-3-3 in 2023 with a mark of 6-1-1 in BIG EAST Conference play which was good enough to win the regular season championship. The Hoyas boasted two All-Americans and seven All-BIG EAST selections, including three major award winners.
  • The Blue & Gray advanced to the NCAA second round a season ago and finished the season ranked No. 16 in the nation.
  • A record six Hoyas were drafted in the MLS SuperDraft this year along with Kieran Sargeant signing a homegrown contract with the Houston Dynamo. The six draftees were the most in program history as well as the most in the 2023 draft from one institution.
  • The SuperDraft was expanded to include college players who are collegiate sophomores and above, Generation adidas players, any former college player who departed college with remaining eligibility since the conclusion of the college season approximately one year prior to the SuperDraft, and other players specifically made available by the League. Drafted players with collegiate eligibility remaining could have opted to return to school in the fall. Any drafted player who did return or turned professional will not be draft-eligible in the future. This was the case for senior Maximus Jennings and junior Zach Zengue who are both back on the Hilltop.
  • Georgetown was picked first in the BIG EAST Conference East Division Preseason Coaches Poll as the Hoyas were awarded 66 points and 11 first place votes.
  • Jennings was named the Preseason BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, and graduate student Marlon Tabora as well as Zengue joined Jennings on the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad. Tabora was a unanimous selection.
  • The Hoyas are currently ranked No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll and No. 11 in the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Poll.
  • Freshman Mitchell Baker was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshman Preseason Best XI Team yesterday.
  • Junior Diego Letayf was selected as a second-year captain, while seniors Jennings and Blaine Mabie joined him being selected by the coaching staff and their teammates to lead the 2024 squad as captains.
  • This season, Georgetown will face six teams that appeared in the 2023 NCAA Championship including two that finished the season ranked among the top 25.
About the Panthers
  • Pitt senior midfielder Guilherme Feitosa was named to the 2024 ACC Preseason Watch List as one of only 15 players across the conference to garner the accolade.
  • During the 2023 season, Feitosa led the Panthers in shots (28) and shots on goal (14), while ranking second on the team in assists (three) and sixth in points (seven).
  • Last year, Pitt went 6-7-4 overall with a mark of 2-3-3 in ACC action. Filip Mirkovic was named to the first team for the second straight season, while defender Jackson Gilman earned the third team nod and forward Albert Thorsen was tabbed to the All-Freshman Team. Both Gilman and Thorsen are back this season.
Series Info
  • Georgetown is 23-7 all-time against the Panthers and 10-5 on the road.
  • The last meeting was a 4-1 Hoya victory last year at Shaw Field.
  • The last time the teams met in Pennsylvania, it was a 2-1 Hoya loss in 2022. That contest was also the season opener for both squads.
