WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's and women's cross country teams head to Leesburg, Virginia to start their seasons at the BIG EAST Preview hosted by Georgetown University. The women's team enters the season ranked No. 16 in the national preseason poll from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and is ranked the top team in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The men's team is ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic preseason poll.

The meet begins at 5:45 p.m. ET with the men's 6,000-meter race. The women's 5,000-meter race is set for 6:15 p.m. ET.
ABOUT THE NO. 16 GEORGETOWN WOMEN

The Georgetown women enter the season ranked 16th nationally in the USTFCCCA preseason rankings. They are also tabbed as the No. 1 team in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Hoyas are one of two BIG EAST programs ranked in the preseason top 30 alongside No. 9 Providence.

The program enters the season coming off its fourth consecutive BIG EAST title.

Returning runners to the program include All-American and 2023 Individual BIG EAST champion Chloe Scrimgeour, who finished eighth in the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Also returning is All-BIG EAST First team honoree Melissa Riggins who finished third in the BIG EAST championship and second in the Mid-Atlantic region championship last season.

Georgetown ended the 2023 season with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, with Scrimgeour (8th) and Chloe Gonzalez (148th) returning to the team.
