Box Score WASHINGTON – The RV Georgetown University women's soccer earned a 2-2 draw against the No. 25/23 South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday night in Columbia, South Carolina. With the draw, GU moves to 3-1-3 on the season while South Carolina moves to 2-0-4.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Tonight's performance by our girls was a first-rate performance. We were a little disappointed not to be ahead at half time as I felt we were the better team with a number of good opportunities, and we could have been up a goal or two. We knew they would come out hard in the second half with a big crowd roaring them on, the second half was certainly a little more even. I still felt that we created the better chances, and I thought once we got the first one that would be enough but credit to them, they put us under some real pressure and tied it up off a set piece.
The game had some even back and forth and then
Eliza Turner scored a great free kick for us that I hoped we could see out the final minutes. Unfortunately, we gave up a few dangerous set pieces late and they tied it up with about four minutes left. Our team is bitterly disappointed right now, but I am very proud of their effort and commitment. To be disappointed with a tie on the road against a top SEC school tells what kind of group we have. Now we have to recover and get ready for another tough road game up at Princeton Sunday."
