WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team opens the 2025 season at home against visiting Loyola on Saturday at Cooper Field. Opening faceoff is set for noon for the No. 11 Hoyas and the Greyhounds.

- The Hoyas are ranked No. 11 in both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coach's Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll to start the season.
- Five Hoyas garnered Preseason All-BIG EAST recognition with Ty Banks, Aidan Carroll and Anderson Moore each earning unanimous nods while James Ball and Patrick Crogan picked up honors as well.
- Georgetown returns six of its top-10 scorers from a year ago, including Carroll with a team-best 60 points (37G, 23A) in 2024. Returning double-figure scorers also include Crogan (23 points), Jordan Wray (22 points), Jack Schubert (18 points), Joe Cesare (16 points) and Kade Goldberg (15 points).
- Defensively, Banks anchors a close defense that held opponents to 9.65 goals per game last season, eighth-best in the NCAA. Also back is Seamus Foley who started 16 of 17 games last season and Will Tominovich who missed all but one game last season but has appeared in 49 career contests and is tied for ninth all-time at Georgetown with 41 career caused turnovers.
- Moore, the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and a USILA Honorable Mention All-American as a freshman in 2024, ranked sixth overall in Division I with a 9.52 GAA last year.
- Ball had the ninth-best faceoff win percentage nationally in his first year on the Hilltop in 2024 at .592 and collected 96 ground balls.
Scouting Loyola
- Loyola was picked sixth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll and had two players – Matt Minicus and Remi Reynolds – earn preseason all-league recognition.
- Minicus is the lone top-10 scorer returning for the Greyhounds with 43 points (28G, 15A) from a year ago.
- Defensively, Reynolds leads the way for Loyola after posting 17 caused turnovers and collecting 32 ground balls last season.
- Carson Hall is Loyola's top returning faceoff specialist after going 82-for-220 (.373) with 41 ground balls in 2024.
- In goal, the 'Hounds return three goalies with in-game experience including Max Watkinson who started two games last year and posted a 7.89 GAA with a .595 save percentage and 25 saves.
Series History
- Georgetown and Loyola have played 47 times since GU's inaugural season in 1970.
- Loyola holds a 38-9 series lead, including an 18-10 win in Baltimore to open the 2024 season. The Hoyas won the two prior meetings including a 23-7 victory in Baltimore in 2023 and a 14-7 win on the Hilltop in 2022.
