Georgetown Baseball Opens Season at Presbyterian

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will travel to Clinton, South Carolina to face Presbyterian in the open series of the 2025 season. Due to weather conditions in the Clinton area, the original schedule has been altered. Friday, February 14 will now consist of a doubleheader with game one starting at 1 p.m. Game three of the series is now scheduled for Saturday morning with time TBD. Last season, Georgetown set a program record in wins with 36 during the 2024 campaign. The remarkable season was capped off with the Hoyas first ever appearance in the BIG EAST Championship game. 
 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • Friday will now be a doubleheader with game one starting at 1 p.m. and game two starting at 4 p.m.

  • There will be no stream for this weekend's series.  
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown returns 22 players from a 2024 squad that reached the BIG EAST Championship after winning a program-record 36 games. The 2024 campaign also marked the first time the Blue & Gray has had three-consecutive 30-win seasons in program history. 
  • GU recorded its highest RPI rankings in school history a season ago finishing the year at 59 overall. 
  • Senior Owen Carapellotti earned a nod to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team after slashing .285/.427/.564 with 11 doubles, three triples and 14 home runs. The Canton, Michigan native was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2023 and 2024 after becoming the first freshman in program history to be named a Freshman All-American in 2022.
  • Andrew Williams returns for the Blue & Gray after posting a squad-best 2.91 ERA in 65.0 innings of action in 2024. The lefty from Atlanta, Georgia recorded 49 strikeouts and boasted a 4-3 record. 
  • Head Coach Edwin Thompson enters his fifth season on the Hilltop after guiding the Hoyas to its most successful season in program history in 2024 posting a 36-21 record. Thompson has guided the Blue & Gray to three-consecutive 30-win seasons for the first time in program history. 2024 also marked the first time in the Thompson era that Georgetown has had a player selected in the MLB Draft in back-to-back seasons, as Everett Catlett was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 12th round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

  • Jackson Hugus returns for PC after slashing .288/.431/.646 a year ago. Hugus tallied seven doubles, five home runs and 27 RBIs in 46 games. 
  • RHP Sean Hollister returns for the Blue Hose after tossing 42.0 innings a season ago. Hollister boasted a 2.79 ERA and had a 2-3 record. 
  • Elton Pollock enters his 21st season at the helm of Presbyterian. Pollock guided the Blue Hose to a 29-27 record in 2024.
