Hoyas Travel to Face No. 8 Johns Hopkins in Top-10 Showdown

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team hits the road on Saturday to take on eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field in Baltimore. The 10th-ranked Hoyas are playing in their fourth battle between top-10 teams since last season and their third in the last four games.

  • Saturday's game will be shown on ESPN+ with Chris Cotter, Paul Carcaterra and Quint Kessenich calling the action.

About Georgetown
  • The Hoyas are ranked No. 10 in both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coach's Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after the opening week of the season.
  • Georgetown defeated Loyola 13-6 in both teams' season opener last weekend.
  • Joe Cesare and Kevin Miller both posted hat tricks for the Blue & Gray while Fulton Bayman added two goals and two assists.
  • Aidan Carroll posted a goal with two assists and Kade Goldberg chipped in a goal and an assist.
  • Patrick Crogan, Jack Ransom and Ben Firlie each had one goal while Jordan Wray dished out a pair of assists and Shuey Kelly had another.
  • Ross Prince was dominant at the dot in his collegiate debut, winning 16 of 20 (.800) faceoffs and collecting five ground balls. Prince won the first 13 faceoffs of the game, including every faceoff in the first half.
  • Defensively, Anderson Moore hauled in 14 saves and posted a .700 save percentage. He allowed just two goals in the final 45 minutes of action as the Hoyas blanked Loyola in both the second and fourth quarters.
  • Seamus Foley was credited with two caused turnovers and had two ground balls while Charlie McGurrin added four ground balls and Joe Vranizan collected three.
  • Georgetown's man down defense was locked in, allowing just one goal on five Loyola EMO chances.
  • For their efforts, Moore was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week while Prince was tabbed the BIG EAST Freshman and Specialist of the Week. Bayman and Cesare both picked up spots on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
  • Prince was also named to the USILA National Team of the Week.
  • Carroll and Ty Banks both were recently named to the inaugural Tewaaraton Award Watch List on Thursday as well.
Scouting Johns Hopkins
  • The Blue Jays (2-0) already have a pair of victories against ranked teams to open the 2025 season, defeating then-No. 9 Denver and No. 17 Towson – both on the road.
  • Hunter Chauvette and Russell Melendez both lead JHU with seven points each. Chauvette has five goals and two assists on the season while Melendez adds four goals with three assists.
  • Chuck Rawson, Matt Collison and Brooks English each have five points on the year.
  • Logan Callahan is the Blue Jays' top faceoff specialist going 29-for-48 (.604) with 16 ground balls.
  • Defensively, Chauvette and Tyler Eye both have been credited with three caused turnovers.
  • In goal, Loyola transfer Luke Staudt has played every minute this season and  posted a 10.00 GAA with a .524 save percentage and 22 saves.
Series History
  • Georgetown and Johns Hopkins have played six times before, including each of the last three seasons.
  • The Blue Jays hold a 5-1 series lead, with the lone Hoya win coming in 2022 on the Hilltop.
  • Johns Hopkins won the last two meetings, 11-9 in the District last season and 13-12 in Charm City in 2023.
