Men’s Lacrosse Takes on Providence in BIG EAST Championship Finals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Georgetown University's top-seeded men's lacrosse team looks to claim its eighth-straight league tournament title at the 2026 BIG EAST Championship, Presented by JEEP against second seed Providence on Saturday. Opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m. at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.

  • The Hoyas are ranked 10th in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coaches Poll and 12th in the Kane Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
  • Georgetown is coming off an 11-8 victory over Denver in the semifinals on Thursday.
  • Jake Bickel and Jack Schubert led the Hoyas with three goals each while Liam Connor had two goals and two assists.

  • Banks and MacFarland both have 16 caused turnovers on the year while Plath has been credited with 12.
  • Ross Prince is 55-for-103 (.533) on faceoffs with 28 ground balls while Hayden Cody has gone 101-for-216 (.467) with 53 ground balls.
  • In goal, Moore has a 9.65 goals-against average to go with a .559 save percentage and 156 saves.
Scouting Providence
  • The Friars are 8-8 on the season and coming off a 14-7 win over Villanova in Thursday's semifinals.
  • Rhett Chambers leads the Friars with 70 points (35G, 35A) while Richie Joseph adds 48 (38G, 10A) and Matt Lazzaro has 42 (21G, 21A).
  • Chris Esposito is PC's top faceoff specialist, winning 130-of-246 (.528) draws with 63 ground balls.
  • Defensively, Ian Olenik anchors the Providence defense with 26 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls.
  • In goal, Cam Sterritt (8-8) has started all 16 games between the pipes and owns a 10.60 GAA to go with a .515 save percentage and 177 saves.

  • The Hoyas and Providence have played 23 times since 1971 with GU owning a 21-2 overall record.
