Box Score TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Georgetown University baseball team fell 4-3 on Sunday morning in game three of the series with the No. 7/5 Seminoles. With the loss, GU slides to 3-8 on the season while FSU improves to 11-0.

ON THE RECORD
"What a great ballgame on a Sunday against a top 10 team in the country. For our program to come down here and really play two, two out of the three games we had a chance to win, or we're in the mix to win and it's hard to do to these guys. They are #7 for a reason, they have a great program and a great staff, but I am really really proud of our kids' fight. I thought Andrew Williams set the tone today and established himself and why he's one of our leaders on the pitching staff, and I thought that was great to see. Looking forward to him continuing to build up his pitch count. I thought offensively, we were held at bay a little bit, where we didn't have much going on. We had a lot of guys on base, we just couldn't get them in. Then we found a way to even it up in the back part of that game. The sixth and the eighth innings were really good for us and I was really proud of the guys just manufacturing some runs there late. So, you know, all in all, it was a tough weekend but saw a lot of growth out of our group." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first frame was scoreless for both sides. In the second, FSU was able to load the bases with the help of a GU error. The Seminoles were able to bring one home before GU grabbed the third out, giving FSU an early 1-0 advantage.
  • In the top of the third, Depman hit a leadoff double down the left field line putting a runner in scoring position for GU. Depman advanced to third, but the next three batters were retired for GU leaving Depman stranded 90 feet from home.
  • Head ripped a two out double to right field before advancing to third on a passed ball in the top of the fourth. GU was unable to bring Head home, leaving its third runner of the day stranded. Williams continued to dominate on the mound, retiring the Seminole side in order in the bottom half of the frame.
  • After a scoreless fifth, Carapellotti launched his 40th homer of his Hoya career to deep right field, tying the game at 1-1. The Hoya bullpen picked up where Williams left off, retiring the side in order in the bottom half of the frame.
  • The Seminole offense came to life in the seventh, loading the bases with no outs. Gage Harrelson hit an RBI single through the left side plating two for FSU. The Blue & Gray was able to limit the damage getting out of the inning while the Noles left two stranded.
  • The Hoya offense immediately answered the Seminoles with two runs of their own. After a walk and single, Head laced an RBI single to right cutting the Hoya deficit to one. In the ensuing at bat, Savoy grounded out to short, but it was enough to allow Carapellotti to come home, tying the game at 3-3. In the bottom half of the inning, the Seminoles were able to retake the lead at 4-3 after an RBI single from Myles Bailey.
  • GU was unable to even the score in the ninth falling 4-3 in the final game of the series.
