WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's lacrosse standout
Anderson Moore was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List presented by Stifel, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday. The sophomore goalie joins teammates
Ty Banks and
Aidan Carroll in contention for the top individual award in college lacrosse.
Moore currently boasts an 8.21 goals-against average with a .563 save percentage and 63 saves in six games this season. He collected a career-high 17 saves in a win at Brown on Saturday and added another 14 saves, tied for his second-most in a game, in a midweek victory at UAlbany on Wednesday.
Averaging 4.67 ground balls per game, Moore ranks 38th in all of Division I and is the top non-faceoff specialist or long pole in the stat category. He also ranks 14th in GAA and 25th in save percentage.
As a team Georgetown's defense is holding opponents to a meager 8.17 goals per game, 13th-best in the NCAA, and holding opponents to just .214 on man-up offense, 12th-best in Division I.
This season, Moore has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week twice and to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll once. He is the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American last season.
