Micah Peavy Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll For Fifth Time

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's basketball graduate student Micah Peavy was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The award comes after a 1-1 week for GU that saw the Hoyas defeat Villanova 75-73 before falling to DePaul 83-77 in Chicago on Saturday afternoon. This is the fifth time this season Peavy has earned a spot on the weekly honor roll.

  • In a 1-1 week for the Hoyas, Micah Peavy averaged 24.0 ppg on 56.3% (18-32) shooting, including 60.0% (9-15) from downtown to go along with 7.5 rpg and 3.0 apg.
  • In a come-from-behind win against Villanova at home on Tuesday, Peavy tallied 19 points including five 3-pointers, as the Hoyas completed the season sweep of the Wildcats. It was the first regular season sweep of the 'Cats since the 1992-93 season.
  • The Hoyas couldn't complete the comeback at DePaul but Peavy led all scorers with 29 points on 11 made field goals and added 10 rebounds for the sixth double-double of his career and fourth of the season.
  • This is Peavy's fifth nod to the honor roll, previously earning the distinction on February 24, February 10, January 27 and December 2.

Georgetown returns to action on Wednesday, March 12 as the Hoyas travel to New York for the BIG EAST Men's Basketball Tournament presented by Jeep. The Hoyas have earned the seventh seed and will face 10th-seeded DePaul n the #7/#10 game at Madison Square Garden, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with the game broadcast on Peacock with Noah Eagle calling the play-by-play, Donny Marshall providing analysis and John Fanta reporting from the sidelines. The game can be heard locally on Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin, in his 51st season as the Voice of the Hoyas, calling the action.
