WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's
Gabriella Eifrig was named the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Thursday. The recognition comes after the freshman was the top Hoya finisher at the Terps Invitational, held nearby in College Park and hosted by the University of Maryland. The Hoyas surged up to third place on the final day, falling one stroke behind High Point and pushing past the host Terrapins by one stroke with a three-round score of 21-over 885 (299-293-293). The 14-team field competed on the par-72, 6,244-yard course at the University of Maryland Golf Course.
GABRIELLA EIFRIG (FRESHMAN / NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF.)
- Moving up 14 spots on the leaderboard and taking the top spot for the Blue & Gray, Eifrig used a 1-under 71 in the third round - the best round for a Hoya in the tournament - to finish tied for 11th at 3-over 219 (73-75-71) at the Terps Invitational.
- She tallied four birdies, including three in a row on holes 2, 3 and 4, to go along with 11 pars in the final round.
- Over 54 holes, she managed six birdies (2/0/4) and 40 pars (14/15/11) on the par-72 course
- With a 1-under 71, Eifrig recorded her second round under par of the season.
- For the year, she has played all 27 rounds of golf and always had a spot among the top four in the lineup.
- This is the first BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honor of Eifrig's career.
