Women’s Lacrosse Takes on Denver in the BIG EAST Semifinals

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's lacrosse team is in Villanova, Pennsylvania to compete in the 2025 BIG EAST Championship, presented by JEEP. The fourth-seeded Hoyas will face the top-seeded Denver in the semifinals on Thursday, May 1, at 1 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas finished the regular season 9-7 overall and 4-2 in BIG EAST action. 
  • At the circle, Gracie Driggs leads GU with 109 draw controls and is third in program history for draw controls in a season. The junior also has 179 career draw controls, which puts her in sixth in the GU record book.
  • On the season, Hanna Bishop leads the Hoyas with 55 points (26G, 29A) while Driggs leads with 49 goals. 
  • Freshman Sophia Loscherts enters the postseason with 31 goals, including 15 goals in her last five games. Loschert has earned two BIG EAST Freshmen of the Week Honors this season. 
  • Bishop and McGovern are the leading playmakers for GU with 29 assists each. 
  • Christina King leads the defense with 17 caused turnovers, followed by Lily Athanas with 15. 
  • In net, Leah Warehime has 121 saves for a .406 save percentage. 
ABOUT THE PIONEERS 
  • Denver finished the regular season 12-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Pioneers became the BIG EAST regular season champions following their 17-7 victory over Villanova last Saturday. 
  • Olivia Ripple leads Denver with 52 goals, followed by Lauren Black with 49.
  • Reagan Wilson has a team best of 30 assists, while Eva Thomson-Marr follows with 20 and Black with 19. 
  • Alex Dorr commands the circle for the Pioneers with 122 draw controls. 
  • Defensively, Sarah Pokorny leads with 34 caused turnovers while Megan Klingenberg has a team best of 35 ground balls. 
  • Goalie Emeila Bohi has started in 16 games for Denver. The senior has recorded 91 saves for a .423 save percentage.  
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Thursday's contest will be the 16th meeting and fourth in the postseason for the Hoyas and the Pioneers.
  • GU is 5-10 overall against Denver and 1-3 in the BIG EAST Championship. 
  • Earlier this season, the Hoyas fell 16-13 to the Pioneers on Cooper Field.
