Georgetown Faces Maryland in Midweek Contest

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will travel to College Park, Maryland to square off with the Terrapins for the second time this season. GU was originally scheduled to play Delaware State but the contest was canceled and will not be rescheduled. First pitch at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown enters Tuesday's contest with an 11-20 record after going 1-2 against Villanova last weekend in the opening series of conference play. Behind a strong 6.0 innings from JT Raab and 3.0 innings from Kai Leckszas, GU was able to secure a 4-2 victory on Friday afternoon. 
  • Schaaf paces the Hoya offense, slashing .337/.450/.500 on the season. The sophomore leads the team in doubles (8), is second on the squad in triples (1) and leads the team on the base path with 21 stolen bags on the campaign, a mark that ranks 16th nationally. 
  • Andrew Williams and Raab lead the Hoyas on the mound as Williams boasts a 2-2 record while Raab is 3-1 on the season. In 38.2 innings of action, Williams has posted a 2.79 ERA, a mark that leads the BIG EAST while Raab has posted a 3.89 ERA in 41.2 innings of action. Raab leads the squad in strikeouts with 38 while Williams follows closely behind with 32 to his credit. 
  • Georgetown ranks seventh nationally in stolen bases with 87 on the season. GU trails VMI (167), Wofford (106), Mount St. Mary's (98), Texas Southern (97), Longwood (90) and Southern University (90).  
  • The Blue & Gray ranks top three in the BIG EAST in base on balls (153), ERA (5.94), runs (203), sacrifice bunts (23), sacrifice flies (19), shutouts (1), stolen bases (87), stolen bases per game (2.81) and strikeouts per nine innings (7.6). 
 
ABOUT MARYLAND
  • Maryland enters Tuesday's contest with a 14-18 record after a 0-3 weekend on the road at Illinois. 
  • Chris Hacopian leads the Terrapins at the dish slashing .355/.515/.591. Hacopian has 33 hits, seven doubles, five home runs and 32 RBIs to his credit. 
  • Kyle McCoy leads Maryland on the mound boasting a 3.13 ERA and a 3-2 record in eight appearances this season. McCoy has allowed 16 earned runs in 46.0 innings while striking out 44.
