WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's track & field program wrapped up day two at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships presented by Jeep in Storrs, Connecticut. Barrett Justema highlighted day two in Connecticut when she claimed her first BIG EAST title in the women's steeplechase running a personal-best 10:17.81.
Assistant Coach Mitchell Baker
"Barrett Justema has dedicated herself to running a disciplined steeple race, and today she put that focus and skill on display with a patient start and steady build to close a sizable gap to the lead group in the back 1/3 of the race. There was a strong contingent of four seeded in front of her coming into tonight, but I believed she could break into that group and possibly sneak onto the (top-3) podium. For her to seize the moment and the outright win was a huge moment for her and her teammates."
