WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team was voted the No. 1 team in the BIG EAST Conference in the preseason rankings. The Hoyas earned 10 first-place votes followed by Xavier with one.
 
Senior Cara Martin was named the Preseason BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and earned a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team along with teammates Maja Lardner and Natalie Means.
 
Martin was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection and the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the year a season ago after leading the nation in GAA with a 0.26 to her credit. Lardner returns for her fifth season on the Hilltop and is coming off a 2024 campaign that saw her earn BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year honors as well as a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team. Means enters her senior season after being an All-BIG EAST First Team selection in 2024. Means and Larner were both named Scholar All-Americans at the conclusion of last season.
 
GU will open the 2025 season on Thursday, August 14 as the Hoyas welcome Old Dominion to the Hilltop, marking the Hoyas season and home opener.
