WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina to face the Winthrop University Eagles to open the 2026 campaign. Game one at Founders Field is scheduled for Friday, February 13 with first pitch coming at 3 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown returns 22 players from the 2025 squad and has added 10 transfers and seven newcomers.
- Graduate student JT Raab earned a nod to the 2026 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team after posting a team-best 3.63 ERA in 74.1 innings of action in 2025. The Seaford, New York native was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2025.
- Catcher Connor Price returns to the lineup in 2026 after slashing .280/.365/.497 in the 2025 season. Price tallied 40 hits and 33 RBIs. The Memphis, Tennessee native recorded six home runs, 11 doubles and a triple.
- Ashtin Gilio is back for the Hoyas after a 2025 season where he slashed .280/.378/.447 at the plate. Gilio managed 45 hits including six home runs and nine doubles to go along with 29 RBIs.
- Jeremy Sheffield will be in the blue & gray again following last season where he recorded 45 hits with four home runs, six doubles, a pair of triples and 26 RBIs. The Chesterfield, Missouri native slashed .242/.369/.360 on the year.
- The Hoyas welcomed seven newcomers to the 2026 roster: Ashton Arroyo, Charlie Hendrix, Dixon Monk, Gibson Pauley, Drew Rybinski, Simon Tesfaye and Max Whitmer.
- The Hoyas added 10 graduate transfers from the transfer portal in the offseason: Brett Blair, Luke Jackman, Trajan Lee, Jack Mullen, Andrew Moy, Will Newell, Connor Peek, Dante Pozzi, Spencer Seid and AJ Solomon.
- The Hoyas wrapped up the 2025 season with a 16-40 record and a 3-18 mark in conference play.
- Last season, Owen Carapellotti signed a free agent contract with the Athletics, which marked the first time in the Thompson era that Georgetown has had a player selected to the MLB three seasons in a row, as Everett Catlett was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 12th round of the 2024 MLB Draft and Jake Bloss was selected in the third round by the Houston Astros in the 2023 MLB Draft.
- Head Coach Edwin Thompson enters his sixth season on the Hilltop. Thompson guided GU to its most successful season in program history in 2024 posting a 36-21 record marking three-consecutive 30-win seasons for the first time in program history.
ABOUT WINTHROP
- The Eagles finished the 2025 season with a 31-29 overall record and a 13-11 mark in conference play.
- Gabe Natividad returns for Winthrop after slashing .347/.486/.518 a year ago.. Natividad tallied 14 doubles, six home runs and 44 RBIs in 60 games.
- RHP Harrison Wilson returns for the Eagles after tossing 58.0 innings a season ago. Hollister scheduled a 5.09 ERA and had a 5-1 record.
- Mike McGuire enters his second season at the helm of Winthrop. McGuire is the program's fourth head coach.
