Men’s Lacrosse Heads to Notre Dame for Top-10 Showdown

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's No. 3/4 men's lacrosse team hits the road once again to face No. 8/7 Notre Dame in a top-10 showdown on Sunday. Opening faceoff is set for 12:30 p.m. indoors at Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Indiana.

About Georgetown
  • The Hoyas are ranked third in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coaches Poll and fourth in the Kane Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
  • Georgetown is coming off a 12-9 road win at Penn in the 2026 season opener after the first two weeks of action we postponed because of weather issues.
  • Rory Connor led the Hoyas with seven goals and an assist for eight points in his Georgetown debut. He was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Player of the Week and earned a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week for his efforts. Connor eclipsed the 200 career points mark in the game and currently has the third most points of active players with 202.
  • Lucas Dudemaine added three goals and an assist against the Quakers while Liam Connor dished out five assists.
  • Joe Cesare scored a goal and had an assist while Charlie McGurrin scored his first career goal. Jack Ransom and Evan MacFarland both notched assists as well.
  • Ross Prince had a solid day at the dot, winning 12 of 24 (.500) faceoffs and adding four ground balls.
  • Defensively, Ty Banks, MacFarland and McGurrin each had two caused turnovers while McGurrin led all players with eight ground balls. McGurrin also secured a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
  • Anderson Moore (1-0) posted 11 saves in the win and collected two ground balls.
Scouting Notre Dame
  • The Fighting Irish are 2-0 with wins over Marquette and Bellarmine in the span of four days.
  • Brock Behrman leads ND with nine points (5G, 4A) while Air Force transfer Josh Yago has eight points (6G, 2A). Luke Miller and Teddy Lally both have seven points on the year with matching stat lines of three goals and four assists.
  • Tyler Spano and Aidan Diaz-Matos have both taken 29 faceoffs on the year, winning 20 and 18 of them, respectively. The duo also combines for 23 ground balls at the dot.
  • Defensively, Shawn Lyght anchors the Irish defense and has a pair of caused turnovers to go with six ground balls while LSM Will Donovan has four caused turnovers and six ground balls.
  • In goal, Thomas Ricciardelli has made both starts and posts a 9.07 goals-against average to go with a .500 save percentage and 15 saves.
Series History
  • Georgetown and Notre Dame have played 22 times with the Irish holding a 13-9 series advantage. The two teams have played five times in the past four seasons, with the Hoyas winning both games played in South Bend.
  • Notre Dame won the last two meetings, an 11-9 decision in D.C. last season and a 16-11 in the 2024 NCAA Quarterfinals in Hempstead, New York
  • Georgetown's last win in the series came in 2024 courtesy of Aidan Carroll's overtime game-winner to take down the top-ranked Irish on the road in South Bend.
