WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's baseball's Jeremy Sheffield was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week while Spencer Seid and Connor Peek were tabbed to the weekly honor roll, as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The award comes after a 4-1 week for the Hoyas that saw a sweep of the Saint Peter's Peacocks at Capital One Park. The honors mark the Blue & Gray's fourth recognition from the league, Sheffield's and Peek's first and Seid's second nod this season.
JEREMY SHEFFIELD (SENIOR / INF / CHESTERFIELD, MO.) - BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Sheffield helped Georgetown to a four-game series sweep over Saint Peter's. In the four-game series he batted 8-for-16 with 10 RBIs and five runs, to go along with four doubles, a triple and a home run.
- In the dominating series the senior also stole two bases and earned two walks.
- The Chesterfield, Missouri native's biggest performance came in the third game with a 5-for-5 hitting performance, collecting four RBIs, scoring twice and hitting a pair of doubles and one triple.
- Including a mid-week loss against Maryland, he batted 9-for-20 with five runs scored.
- This is Sheffield's first accolade from the league this season and second in his career.
SPENCER SEID (GRADUATE / LHP / SAN MARINO, CALIF.) - BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
- In back-to-back performances, Seid was sensational for the Hoyas on the bump in the 13-0 win over Saint Peter's on Saturday, February 21 at Capital One Park.
- The graduate student struck out six batters in 5.2 scoreless innings.
- This is Seid's second accolade from the league this season and second in his career.
CONNOR PEEK (GRADUATE / INF / SUDBURY, MASS.) - BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
- In a 4-1 week, Peek tallied a total of nine runs and seven RBIs
- The graduate student batted 8-for-16 with two walks and his first home run as a Hoya.
- This is Peek's first accolade from the league this season and first in his career.
