Hoyas Host Providence for Regular Season Finale

WASHINGTON – Georgetown men's basketball returns home for a Saturday night matchup against the Providence Friars at Capital One Arena. Tipoff in the District is scheduled for 8 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In its last outing, Georgetown (13-17, 5-14 BE) fell 72-69 to No.18 St. Johns at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Kayvaun Mulready scored a career-high 20 points on 6-for-12 shooting off the bench to lead a trio of Hoyas in double-figure scoring. Jeremiah Williams was GU's next leading scorer with 17 points, followed by Malik Mack's 15 points. Mulready led GU on the glass with a career-high seven boards. Mack dished out a team-high five assists.
  • Following a medical evaluation, junior guard KJ Lewis will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season after he suffered an injury to his left ankle that occurred in the game against Marquette on Tuesday, February 24.
  • A trio of Hoyas are scoring in double figures led by Lewis who ends his season averaging 14.9 ppg, followed by Mack (13.8 ppg) and Vince Iwuchukwu (11.3 ppg). Lewis ranks eighth in the BE in scoring.
  • Iwuchukwu leads the Hoyas on the glass grabbing 5.8 rpg, followed by Caleb Williams (5.3 rpg) and Lewis (5.1 rpg).
  • Mack paces the offense with 4.2 apg, which is seventh in the league, followed by J. Williams (2.8 apg) and Lewis (2.5 apg).
  • Lewis ranks second in the BIG EAST and leads the Hoyas in strips with 2.1 spg.
  • Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were also selected sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season at the helm.
 
ABOUT THE FRIARS
  • Providence enters the matchup with a 14-16 record for the 2025-26 season, including a 7-12 mark in BIG EAST play.
  • In its last outing, Providence fell to Marquette 78-56 at Amica Mutual Pavilion on Wednesday. Jaylin Sellers led the Friars with 18 points on 5-for-13 shooting while Ryan Mela scored 17 points. Oswin Erhunmwunse and Mela led the Friars on the glass with eight boards apiece. Stefan Vaaks dished out a team-high three assists.
  • Sellers leads Providence with 18.0 ppg, followed by Jason Edwards (17.0 ppg), Vaaks (15.3) and Jamier Jones (11.9 ppg) to round out those in double figures.
  • Erhunmwunse's 8.5 rpg leads the Friars on the glass.
  • Vaaks also paces Providence's offense with 3.2 apg while Edwards dishes out 3.1 apg.
  • Providence  is led by Head Coach Kim English in his third season with the Friars.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and Providence will meet for the 88th time in program history, with the Hoyas  holding a 49-38 record in the series.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was on January 24 with Georgetown completing the 21-point comeback 81-78 at Amica Mutual Pavilion. Lewis led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with a game-best 26 points on 10 made field goals. Iwuchukwu followed with 16 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, followed by Mack with 13 points fueled by six made field goals. Mack also dished out three assists to pace GU's offense. C. Williams led GU on the boards with a squad-best seven rebounds.
  • Cooley maintains a 2-5 record against Providence and a 2-4 mark against English.
