WASHINGTON – Georgetown track & field continues its postseason push this week at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky. A total of 13 Hoya qualifiers will compete over four days from May 27-30 at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
Georgetown enters the NCAA opening rounds on the heels of a successful conference championship weekend. The Hoyas are led by individual BIG EAST champions
Tinoda Matsatsa (800m),
Nicholas Givan (400mH),
Jaden Marchan (400m), and
Melissa Riggins (1,500m). Also highlighting the squad are school record-holder
Barrett Justema (3,000m Steeplechase) and regional top-10 seed
Birhanu Harriman (10,000m).
Meet Coverage
Georgetown Men
- Tinoda Matsatsa successfully defended his 800m title at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships two weekends ago, finishing first with a time of 1:46.29. Matsatsa's season-best mark (1:45.12) came at the Virginia Challenge and ranks second in the east region and seventh in the country. Nicholas Medeiros' (1:46.83) top 800m mark sits at 28th in the east.
- Nicholas Givan clocked a personal best of 50.17 to win the 400m hurdles at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. His finish ranks 14th in the East Region, 29th in the country and is the third-fastest in program history.
- Jaden Marchan took gold at the conference outdoor championships with a season-best time of 46.13.
- Birhanu Harriman (28:24.74) holds the ninth fastest 10,000m time in the east region and the 33rd fastest time in the NCAA. MacCallum Rowe earned a silver medal at the BIG EAST outdoor championships, finishing with a time of 28:52.61 in the event.
- Luke Johnson posted the seventh-fastest 5,000m finish in program history with a season-best mark of 13:40.50 at the Raleigh Relays and placed third at the BIG EAST outdoor championships with a mark of 13:50.16.
- Edwin Klanke recorded a season-best time of 3:39.98 in the 1,500m at the Florida Relays.
Georgetown Women
- Barrett Justema shattered the program record in the 3,000m steeplechase at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, where she placed second with a time of 10:04.25.
- A trio of Hoyas will compete in the 1,500m as Charlotte Tomkinson (4:12.81) and Mary Grace Hegberg (4:16.09) recorded their season-best marks at the Duke Twilight. Melissa Riggins became the BIG EAST 1,500m champion for the second time in her Georgetown career with a time of 4:13.53. Tomkinson's mark ranks 27th in the east, while Riggins' sits at 31st.
- Almi Nerurkar clocked a season-best mark of 15:54.87 in the 5,000m at the Duke Twilight.
