Georgetown Faces Howard, George Washington to Close Non-Conference Play

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team concludes non-conference play this week in Washington, D.C., taking on Howard and George Washington. The Hoyas travel to Burr Gymnasium to face the Bison on Thursday night before returning to McDonough Arena on Friday to host the Revolutionaries.

About the Hoyas
  • Head Coach AJ Bonetti enters his fourth season at the helm following a 14-15 campaign last year, which included a 7-9 finish in BIG EAST play.
  • Georgetown enters the week at 6-3 overall after posting a 2-1 mark at the Battle of the Beltway. The Hoyas opened the tournament with back-to-back 3-0 sweeps over Morgan State and Loyola Maryland before dropping a 3-1 decision to UMBC.
  • The Hoyas average 13.56 kills and 12.50 assists per set offensively, while collecting 13.50 digs and 2.20 blocks per set on defense.
  • Juleigh Urbina was named the BIG EAST Setter of the Week on Monday after totaling 112 assists (11.20 per set) over the weekend. Urbina has paced GU's offense this season, averaging  8.31 assists per set, which ranks fourth in the conference.
  • Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Kamryn Lee-Caracci earned a spot on the conference Weekly Honor Roll for her performance at the Battle of the Beltway. Over three tournament matches, she posted 34 kills (3.40 per set) while attacking at a .467 clip. Lee-Caracci leads the Georgetown offense with 98 kills (3.06 per set), followed by Dionna Mitchell with 93 (2.91 per set) and Berkeley Ploder with 80 (2.58 per set).
  • Ploder tops the BIG EAST with a .518 hitting percentage while Lee-Caracci ranks second with a .477 mark.
  • Graduate transfer Bella McGirr anchors the defense with 96 total digs (4.36 per set), while Mitchell has recorded 82 (2.56 per set) and Urbina has posted 68 (2.13 per set)
  • Lee-Caracci (31), Ploder (30) and  McGregor (17) lead the net defense in total blocks.
  • Georgetown welcomes four freshmen this season: Lexi Anderson, Avery Lewis, Addie Lloyd and Olivia Penske.
