WASHINGTON, D.C. - The fourth-ranked Georgetown Hoyas remained unbeaten with a 14-7 victory against #10 Duke, 14-7. Steve Dusseau (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Trevor Walker (Haverford, Pa./Episcopal Academy) each scored three goals, while goalkeeper Scott Schroder (Summit, N.J./Summit) had an outstanding game in the cage to spark the victory. Dusseau added three assists while Schroeder made a season-high 17 saves as GU improved to 6-0 with the win and recorded its 14th-straight win at home.
Duke opened the scoring when Kevin Brennan scored less than three minutes into the game. The Hoyas tied the game when Jamie Sharpe (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) scored the first of his two goals with 6:32 remaining in the period. It started a 5-0 GU run which gave the Hoyas control of the game. Walker put the Hoyas ahead with a pair of goals within a 45 second span early in the second period. Dusseau would score twice in the period and Scott Doyle (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) added another to give GU a 6-2 lead at the break. Duke was unable to cut the lead to under four goals the rest of the way.
Kevin Cassese (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) led the Blue Devils with four goals and an assist. He had two goals in both the third and fourth quarters.
GU senior tri-captain Mike Henehan (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) had his first two goals of the season and also handed out a pair of assists. Freshman Neal Goldman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) scored twice for the Hoyas, while sophomore Mike Hammer (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) had three points with a goal and two assists.
Georgetown returns to ECAC play on Sunday, April 1, when they play against the Naval Academy in Annapolis at 12 p.m.
