Men' Soccer Outlasted by Towson in Double OT

9/17/2002

Box Score

Towson, Md. ? Towson senior Randy Tolson scored the game?s only goal with 2:44 remaining in the second overtime period as Towson University (3-2) edged Georgetown University (2-4) by 1-0 in double overtime on Tuesday afternoon at the Tigers? Towson Center Field.

Tolson?s goal, his first of the season, ended a tense struggle between two well-matched teams. Each team had 16 shots on goal.

Tolson scored the game-winner as part of a Tiger four-on-three break. The Tiger?s Machel Millwood fed Tolson with a beautiful pass through two Hoya defenders. Tolson then pushed his shot past Georgetown goalkeeper Tim Hogan (Freeman H.S./Richmond, Va.) to end the 107-minute battle.

The Hoyas? loss ended their two-game winning streak.

Hogan, who made nine saves in the game, had several spectacular stops. In the first half, he made a sliding save on what appeared to be a sure goal.

Georgetown next hosts Rutgers this Saturday at 1 p.m. on North Kehoe Field during the Hoyas Homecoming weekend.
