BLACKSBURG, Va. - The #4 ranked Georgetown University Hoyas won a decisive 16-7 victory over BIG EAST opponent Virginia Tech women's lacrosse action on Sunday, March 7, at the VT Lacrosse Stadium. The game was the first played in the newly opened stadium.

Georgetown (2-0, 1-0), the 2003 BIG EAST Champions, was strong from the start, scoring five unanswered goals in the opening 13 minutes. Kelsey Mays put the Hokies on the board at the 15:47 mark with a goal on an assist from Lindsay Peiper, while senior Hilary Fay added a free position goal for Tech 27 minutes into the game. With Georgetown leading 13-6, Tech's Pieper scored her first collegiate goal, with an assist from senior Kate Threadgold. Georgetown scored three unanswered goals by Lozano, Oliphant and sophomore Paige Andrews (Newton Square, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) to capture the win, 16-7.
Junior goalkeeper Sarah Robinson (Great Falls, Va./St. Marks) was solid in goal for the Hoyas. Robinson turned away 11 Hokie shots on the afternoon.
Mays and Faulkner led the Hokies' attack, with two goals and four ground balls each.
