Box Score
BALTIMORE, MD - Georgetown women's soccer (2-1-1) loses 3-1 to Loyola College (2-2-0) in the Hoyas first attempt at a road win. The Greyhounds hand GU their first loss of the season.
The first half was defense laden until Loyola's Ty Glenn passed the ball off from the right corner of the box to an open Naomi Daniels. Daniels got it just pass sophomore goalkeeper Jade Higgins (Island Park, NY) in the 23rd minute of play. Just under four minutes later, Loyola attacked again and scored for a 2-0 lead that they would take into the second half.
The second half saw no shift in momentum as Loyola's Ashley Kramer took a shot, only to be saved by Higgins. Unfortunately for the Hoyas, the ball came loose from Higgins' grip and Loyola's Carolyn Kennington gained possession and scored the third goal of the game. Higgins made eight saves on the day.
Georgetown was able to get on the scoreboard when sophomore Elaina Filauro (Denville, NJ) took a shot and scored in the 86th minute of play. The Hoyas lost 3-1.
Georgetown returns to action this Friday, September 9 against Iona at 2:30 p.m. when the Hoyas host the 2005 Hoya Classic on North Kehoe Field.
