Washington, D.C. - Senior attacker Coco Stanwick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Stanwick had 14 points, including 11 goals while helping the Hoyas to a 2-0 week to go along with 18 draw controls and one caused turnover. She scored five goals and recorded two assists in a 15-9 conference win over Connecticut on April 22. She also had seven points, including six goals in an 18-7 win over George Washington on April 20. The seven points were one shy of her single-game career high. She has team highs of 74 points and 52 goals this year, and led the BIG EAST with 18 goals over five conference games. This is the third Player of the Week award Stanwick has earned this season and the 10th of her career.
Late last week, Stanwick was named one of 17 nominees for the 2007 Tewaaraton Trophy. This is the third straight season that Stanwick has been in the running for the pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States. Of these players, five finalists will be selected and a winner will be announced at the Tewaaraton Trophy Awards Banquet on May 30th, 2007.
Stanwick was a finilist for the Tewaaraton after being a candidate for the award in 2005.
She ranks third on the Georgetown's all-time list with 188 career goals, 83 career assists and 271 career points.
