Maggie Koch, Coco Stanwick and Laura Cipro Named to IWLCA Regional All-America Team

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University senior lacrosse standouts Maggie Koch (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside) and Coco Stanwick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) First Team in the South Region while defender Laura Cipro (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) was named to the South Region Second Team. The trio earns three of the 128 selections at the Division I level in eight regions.

Koch and Stanwick earn IWLCA First Team Regional All-America status for the second season while Cipro is named to the Second Team in back-to-back seasons as well.


Koch helped propel the Hoyas to a share of their seventh consecutive regular season title and was rewarded with her second consecutive BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year award in 2007. A two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2007, Koch earned five BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors in her career. During BIG EAST play, Koch limited opponents to 7.13 goals per game, allowing 35 goals in five league contests. For the year, the senior posted a 9.48 goals against average and totaled 152 saves. Koch and the Hoyas did not allow more than 14 goals in any game this season and held nine opponents to 10 goals or less, going 8-1 in those contests. Koch also becomes the sixth Georgetown player to be named the Defensive Player of the Year.

After being named 2007 BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Stanwick didn't disappoint. She led the BIG EAST during conference play with 18 goals, racking up team highs of 87 points, 63 goals and 24 assists and earned the league's Player of the Year award prior to the conference tournament. The senior notched a goal in every game in 2007 and registered at least two points in every contest. She also totaled 79 draw controls to rank second in the nation averaging a conference-leading 4.39 draws per contest. Stanwick concluded her BIG EAST career with the second-highest point total in conference history (90 points). Stanwick finished the season ranked fifth in the country with 3.5 goals per game and 4.83 points per game.

Cipro was named All-BIG EAST First Team in 2007 after ranking second on the team with 27 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Cipro, who earned All-Conference Second Team accolades as a junior, Cipro collected five multi-ground ball games and scored both of her senior yearr goals vs. BIG EAST opponents.

All 128 student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 29. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 16, 2006 in Downingtown, Pa.
