Washington, D.C.- Fourth-year head coach Ricky Fried has announced the 2008 Georgetown University women's lacrosse schedule. Georgetown will play 16 games against some of the nation's top teams, including five BIG EAST Conference games.
The schedule includes seven home games and nine road games as well as meetings with seven schools that were ranked in the top-10 in the 2008 Lacrosse Magazine preseason rankings and eight schools that made an appearance in last season's NCAA Tournament.
The Hoyas will host Loyola (Md.) (2/23), George Mason (2/27), William & Mary (3/19), Rutgers (3/22), Virginia (4/9) Notre Dame (4/12) and Princeton (5/3).
Georgetown will take to the road for meetings at George Washington (2/20), Denver (3/2), Johns Hopkins (3/7), Duke (3/15), defending national champion Northwestern (3/28), Louisville (3/30), Syracuse (4/5), Maryland (4/16) and Connecticut (4/20).
GU will face BIG EAST foes Loyola (Md.), Rutgers, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Connecticut. Louisville will be participating in its first Division I season but will not begin BIG EAST play until the 2009 season. Georgetown finished last season with a 10-8 overall record.
The Hoyas return 21 letterwinners to the 2008 roster. Five starters including All-BIG EAST second team honoree Patty Piotrowicz.
