Louisville, Ky. - The eighth-ranked Georgetown University women's lacrosse team outshot Louisville, 35-17 and the Hoyas held a 14-5 advantage on draw controls as Georgetown posted a 13-5 victory over Louisville on Sunday afternoon at U of L Lacrosse Stadium. A season-high nine different Hoyas scored in the game.

The Hoyas held a 5-2 lead at halftime before they scored four of the first five goals in the second half over a nine-minute stretch and the Blue and Gray cruised the rest of the way.

"Coming off an emotional game on Friday at Northwestern, we got off to a bit of a slow start but I was happy we went into the game like it was a BIG EAST game (Louisville women's lacrosse joins the BIG EAST in 2009)," said head coach Ricky Fried. "We had a lot of people contribute today in positive ways."

GU sophomore Ashby Kaestner netted four goals to go along with an assist while junior Bunny O'Reilly notched two goals and three draw controls.

Six of the Hoya goals were on free position attempts with O'Reilly, Logan McCraw and Kaestner scoring from the eight-meter in the first half.

Georgetown held a 3-2 lead with 11 minutes to go in the first half but Kaestner notched two goals for the visitors, one at the six minute mark and one with 1:28 to go in the half for a 5-2 lead at intermission.

Kaestner scored an unassisted goal three minutes into the second half to up the Hoya lead to 6-2.

Sophomore Molly Ford made it 7-2 with 26:32 left with senior Patty Piotrowicz getting credited with an assist.

After a Sierra Smith-Hart unassisted tally for U of L at 22:45, Georgetown scored three of the game's next four goals for a 10-4 bulge with 8:50 to go. Sophomore Emily Bock and freshman Mary Beth Brophy found the back of the net with free position goals and O'Reilly ripped in her second goal of the game with Kaestner dishing out an assist.

Freshmen Jacqueline Giles, Maggie Trautman and Allie Hubschmann all tallied markers over the final seven minutes to put the game away.

Georgetown finished 6-8 on free position attempts.

Hoya sophomore netminder Caitlin Formby made three saves on just eight Cardinal shots on goal.

Louisville freshman Bergan Foley scored three goals for the Cards.

Georgetown gets back into BIG EAST action on Saturday, April 5 when the Hoyas travel to No. 5 Syracuse in a noon start at the Carrier Dome.
