Providence, R.I. - The Georgetown University women's soccer team earned a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime win at Providence (5-5-2, 0-3-1) on Friday. Sophomore Kelly D'Ambrisi (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy) scored the game-winner with 5:09 remaining after Camille Trujillo's (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) header caromed off the cross bar. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 8-2-2, 2-1-1 in conference play.
Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) knotted the game with 15 minutes remaining when she slid in and got her foot to a throw-in by Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson). The goal was Jordan's fifth of the season and moved her past Christina Brunner ('98) to become the all-time leading point scorer in Georgetown history.
Baker earned two assists as both goals were scored off long throw-ins by the sophomore. She and Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair are tied for the team lead with seven helpers apiece.
In the first half, Trujillo, Caitlin Durkee (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) and Wells all had chances on goal but PC goalkeeper Jill Schott was able to make the save each time. Durkee was denied three times by Schott in the second half.
Providence went ahead in the first half off a header from leading scorer Jill Camburn. The tally was her sixth of the season and 12th in her career with the Friars. The goal was scored off a cross by PC's Katelin Blaine.
Georgetown out-shot Providence for the contest, 16-13.
