WASHINGTON, D.C. - Freshman pitcher/designated player Mackensey Carter (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) earned third team All-BIG EAST honors when BIG EAST Softball regular season awards were announced on Wednesday afternoon at the league offices. It was the first BIG EAST post-season award earned by a Georgetown softball player.
"Mac had a terrific year for us," Georgetown softball coach Pat Conlan said. "She handled the workload on the mound and at the plate like a seasoned veteran. We are looking forward to three more outstanding years as we make our mark in the Big East Conference."
In her first season on the Hilltop, Carter led the Hoyas batting .325 (39-for-120) with five home runs and 23 RBI's. Carter also slugged a team-high .550. In the circle, Carter led the Hoyas with a 2.99 ERA finishing the season strong tossing 9.0 shutout innings to earn a 1-0 victory over St. John's on Saturday.
