Georgetown Field Hockey Announces 2009 Schedule

WASHINGTON, D.C. -

The Georgetown University field hockey team has announced its 20-game 2009 fall schedule, as the team sets to play at its new home field, the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex at American University in Washington, D.C.

The Hoyas will host seven games and take on American University at their new field during the 2009 campaign. GU played its home games at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md. during the past two seasons. GU opens the season in Farmville, Va. for games with host Longwood University on Friday, August 28 at noon. The meeting will be the 11th all-time between the Hoyas and Lancers with the series tied at five games apiece. Georgetown stays in town to take on Lock Haven on Saturday, August 29 at noon, the second all-time meeting between the two schools.

The Hoyas enter their fifth season of BIG EAST play and will host Connecticut (Oct. 2), Villanova (Oct. 16), Louisville (Oct. 31) and travel to Rutgers (Sept. 25), defending BIG EAST Champion Syracuse (Oct. 9) and Providence (Oct. 24). Syracuse, Connecticut and Louisville all finished in the Top 15 of the 2008 STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
