WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's soccer squad put together a huge offensive performance Sunday afternoon at North Kehoe Field as the Hoyas cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Robert Morris University Colonials (2-3). Redshirt sophomore Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) tallied a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Hoyas who improved to 6-1 on the season.

"I asked the girls to get out early in the first half and I think we did just that setting the tone for the game," said Georgetown Head Coach Dave Nolan. "We failed to set the tone against GW and it hurt us. We knew they had played an overtime game on Friday, so if we could get out early we knew we could put up some goals."

The Hoyas wasted no time finding the back of the net as sophomore midfielder Kelly D'Ambrisi (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy) scored her second goal of the season in the fifth minute off of a pass from Wells on the right side. The ball hit the crossbar but ricocheted in to make it 1-0.

The pair reversed roles in the 12th minute as Wells charged up the right side of the box and hit the top left corner off of the net taking the pass from D'Ambrisi giving the Hoyas the two-goal advantage. Georgetown continued to shoot as the minutes ticked away and was awarded a penalty kick in the 44th minute when D'Ambrisi was tripped at the top of the box. Wells took the PK hitting her second goal of the game and the fourth penalty kick of her career.

Junior midfielder Amy Speck (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) chipped in Georgetown's fourth goal of the contest just two minutes before the half on a long shot from 25 yards out. The Hoyas went into the locker room leading 4-0 and outshooting the Colonials 9-2 as well as taking two more corner kicks. Keeper Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) notched two saves in the first 45 minutes.

"In the first half I thought we were very crisp and sharp," said Nolan. "We scored four goals and could have scored four more. In the second half, we changed things around and really settled in. It's difficult to play at that tempo for a full 90 minutes."

Despite slowing down the tempo in the second half, the Hoya offense continued to produce as captain Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) scored off of a keeper deflection in the 81st minute. Camille Trujillo (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) and Wells assisted on the play. Trujillo then added one of her own from thirty yards out in the closing minute to make the final 6-0.

Georgetown outshot Robert Morris 20-6 and took five corner kicks while the Colonials were awarded none. GU keeper Elizabeth Hanna (Waxhaw, N.C./Weddington) came in for the second half and notched two saves.

The Hoyas will open BIG EAST play on Friday against Villanova on North Kehoe Field. Live stats and a webcast will be available for the contest at www.GUHoyas.com.

"It's a big game for us on Friday," said Nolan. "Last year we did a number on them at their place with a 3-0 win and I'm sure Villanova remembers that and will be looking for pay back. They're a good team and well coached so it will be a battle."
