Welcome back Hoya fans! What a weekend....
Defeating Villanova at home, 4-0, was a great feeling on Friday. We came out and played a strong game and proved to ourselves that we were the better team. It is always great to get a win against Villanova.
The next morning we left and headed up to Philadelphia. Watching "Finding Nemo" on the ride up was almost as entertaining as 1.) jumping over Kelly Steele sleeping in the aisle, 2.) realizing Jackie locked us out of the bathroom and 3.) witnessing Amy almost strangle Jackie to death. With a bus full of angry girls because that needed to use the bathroom, there was no one to stop Amy in her physical abuse of Jackie.
We got through practice that day at the field with some motivation provided by Dave [Coach Nolan] who shouted, "losers don't get fed tonight." We all were well aware of what we would be missing out on since dinner that night was at the Millers [Gabby's family]! Needless to say, the competitive level was raised a few notches at practice Saturday. Dinner that night did not disappoint ... and neither did dessert. We left the Millers totally stuffed and completely satisfied having eaten anything and everything from an appetizer of brie and pears, to a dinner of teriyaki chicken and risotto, to dessert including "magic bars", tag-a-longs and s'mores.
The next morning we got up, ate breakfast at the hotel and headed out to Penn. After regulation, and two 10-minute overtime periods, the game ended in a 3-3 tie. We played very well but unfortunately, Penn was able to capitalize on about a 10-minute lapse we had in the second half. Other than that, we showed that we are a dangerous team. The result was unfortunate, but no one was disappointed in how we played overall.
After the game, we enjoyed a fantastic tailgate provided by the Buonomo [Michaela's] family. It was a wonderful spread of homemade food and desserts, as well as Philly style soft pretzels and Tastykakes! It was definitely a nice way to end the weekend getting to spend time with our family and friends that came out to watch the game.
This Friday we will continue BIG EAST play against nationally-ranked Rutgers, and then go on the road to play at Seton Hall on Sunday. Thanks for following us! We hope to see you this weekend!
