WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's soccer players Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) and Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) earned national honors today after helping to lead the Hoyas to a 1-0 win over Minnesota this past weekend in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.

DesJardin and Baker were key players in Georgetown's 1-0 win, which advanced the team to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The Hoyas will play at No. 17 Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.

DesJardin was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week after making five saves in Georgetown's win at Minnesota.

"She's playing the way you want a senior to play as she's finishing up her career," Head Coach Dave Nolan said. "She's made some great saves. She made a pair of big saves for us in penalty kicks against Maryland. And this past weekend, in difficult conditions, she made a couple of big-time saves to keep us in the game. It's a good honor for her and it is well-deserved."

The shutout was the eighth of the season for DesJardin, who is Georgetown's all-time leader in that category with 30. She is ranked No. 39 in the country with a 0.76 goals-against average.

Baker was named a PrimeTime Performer by CollegeSoccer360.com after scoring the winning goal in Georgetown's win. She scored off a corner kick with 44 seconds left in regulation, lifting Georgetown to the 1-0 win over Minnesota at Elizabeth Lynn Robbie Stadium.

It was the third time this season that Baker has scored directly off a corner kick, the previous instances providing game-winners as well (vs. Fairfield and at James Madison. Baker is fourth on the team in scoring with five goals and four assists for 14 points.

The weekend win was the 15th of the season for the Hoyas (15-6-2), setting an all-time school record for wins.
