WASHINGTON - The Georgetown volleyball squad (10-6) will take on Syracuse (16-0) Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. and Marquette (7-5) Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. Both matches will take place at McDonough Arena.
The Hoyas are 8-1 in their last nine matches, going 4-1 in five set matches. In the Hoyas last match against UMBC, the Blue & Gray went down two sets to none before coming back and taking the match, 3-2. Samantha Trauth (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) notched 17 kills and 12 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Under Head Coach Arlisa Williams, the Hoyas are 0-4 against Syracuse and 1-3 against Marquette. In last season's match against Syracuse, Lindsay Wise (Raleigh, N.C./Raleigh Charter) recorded 13 kills and Paris Coleman (Inglewood, Calif./Brentwood School) notched 11 kills and 11 digs. Wise is second on the team with 153 kills and first with 87 blocks.
In last season's match against Marquette, Kortney Robinson (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove) tallied eight kills and two service aces. Robinson currently leads the squad with 161 kills, averaging 3.16 kills per set.
Georgetown is currently sixth in the BIG EAST standings, while Syracuse is first and Marquette is seventh.
