Shugrue Named to Field Hockey BIG EAST Honor Roll

WASHINGTON -

The BIG EAST announced weekly awards, with junior forward Catherine Shugrue (Devon, Pa./Episcopal Academy) named to the Honor Roll. Shugrue scored two of three Georgetown goals October 14-16 in games against No. 8 Syracuse and Cornell. She tallied five total points for the weekend.

Shugrue currently leads the Hoyas with seven goals and 17 points on the 2011 season. She also has the most shots and shots on goal.

This is the third time Shugrue has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll in her career. She earned weekly honors twice in the 2010 season. She was first honored on August 31, 2010, after she scored a hat trick in the season opener against Bryant. The second time was on November 2, 2010 when Shugrue scored the only goal in the final game of the season against Providence.

In her sophomore season, Shugrue scored 14 goals, and was named to the BIG EAST field hockey first team. She ranked 2nd in goals and 3rd in points for the BIG EAST in the 2010 season.

The Georgetown University field hockey team (2-13) plays its final home game against BIG EAST opponent Villanova (5-9) on Friday, October 21 at 1 p.m. at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex at American University.
