WASHINGTON - Louisville's Christine Exeter scored the second of her two goals just under two minutes into the second overtime period, leading the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over Georgetown in a BIG EAST women's soccer game at North Kehoe Field on the Hilltop Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops Georgetown's record to 11-5-0 overall, and 5-3-0 in the BIG EAST, while the Cardinals improve to 7-5-3 overall and 5-1-2 in league play, picking up three key points with the win to move into first place in the National Division.
The Hoyas had taken a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when senior forward Camille Trujillo (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) headed a cross inside the far post from senior forward Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson).
Georgetown had several chances in the first half and early in the second half, but could not capitalize.
With just over 10 minutes left in the game, Exeter tied the game with a shot to the lower left corner off a feed from Angelika Uremkovich.
Georgetown hits the road next weekend, playing at Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 14 (7:30 p.m.).
