Three Hoyas Selected for IWLCA North-South Game

June 2, 2011

WASHINGTON - Three Georgetown University women's lacrosse players have been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association's 2011 Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game. They will join 34 other senior student-athletes in the event on June 11 at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa.

Co-captain Logan McCraw (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) was a First Team All-America honoree marking her second All-America award and her first-career nod to the first team. She was also named First Team All-South Region by the IWLCA. The defender was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection and the BIG EAST Defender of the Year. McCraw led the team in draw controls with 42 and ranked second in ground balls with 31. McCraw also has 15 caused turnovers to her credit as well as a goal and an assist. She is among the program's all-time leaders in draw controls.

McCraw was a Second Team All-America selection as a junior making her one of just 14 players in program history to earn All-America honors twice in her career.

Co-captain Jordy Kirr (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School) earned her third-career nod to the All-South Region Second Team last week after an outstanding career on the Hilltop. Earlier this season, the attacker received her fourth-consecutive All-BIG EAST honor and her first-career spot on the First Team. No other Hoyas had ever earned All-BIG EAST all four years on the Hilltop. Kirr led the Hoyas with 52 points on 26 goals and a team-best 26 assists. She won BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week in 2011 as well as a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Kirr is currently the only player in program history with 100 goals and 100 assists in her career and is the all-time leader in assists.

Mary Beth Brophy (Berwyn, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) is a third co-captain who received a spot on the North-South squad. The midfielder played in 17 games rotating starts with eight to her credit this season. She had 16 goals and three assists on the year for 19 points. Brophy also caused nine turnovers and had seven draw controls. She appeared in 73 career games with 27 starts and had 46 total goals in four years on the Hilltop.

Ten players from the BIG EAST were named to the squads. McCraw, Kirr and Brophy will play on the South team.

The opening draw is scheduled for noon.
