WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis squad announced its 2011-12 schedule on Thursday afternoon.

The Hoyas start the 2011-12 season hosting the Georgetown Classic September 23-25 prior to traveling to the Margaux Powers Memorial Tournament hosted by Brown University. The Navy Invitational and ITA Regionals the following weekends which will conclude fall play.

Georgetown will begin spring matches on January 20 at Virginia Commonwealth University in the VCU 4+1. The Hoyas will then host Mary Washington on February 12 before a four-match road trip featuring Penn, Old Dominion, William & Mary and Navy.

A pair of home matches against local rivals UDC and George Washington mark the final home and away contests before a 10-match home stand.

Duquesne, UMBC, Bucknell, Temple, Stony Brook Saint Francis (Pa.) and Norfolk State complete nonconference play at home. Additionally, GU will host Connecticut, St. John's and Villanova in BIG EAST contests at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex.

The Villanova match will mark senior day for the Class of 2012.

The BIG EAST Tournament is scheduled for April 19-22 in Tampa, Fla., marking a move from Notre Dame where the championship had been hosted the past two seasons.

The tennis team will begin practice as school begins and the team will be selected in the first weeks of the fall season.
