WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis squad finished fall competition over the weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Charlottesville, Va., hosted by the University of Virginia. A total of seven Hoyas traveled to the event, with six of them participating in the singles bracket.

Freshman Marco Lam (Hong Kong China, Diocesan Boys' School) advanced to the round of 64 after defeating Scott Huang of William and Mary, 7-5, 6-1, in the opening round. He fell in the second round, however, to Tomas Hanzlik of Penn State, 6-3-, 6-1.

In the opening round, Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) was defeated by Mike Reilly of Penn State, 7-6, 6-3. Jack Murphy (Coronado, Calif./La Jolla County Day) was unable to advance after he was dropped by Harry Walshe of Duquesne, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Shane Korber (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) battled Jimmy Lange of George Mason, but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-2. Peter Beatty bowed out in the opening round as well after he lost to Theophile Lanthiez of Old Dominion, 7-6, 6-4.

The first round of main draw doubles saw Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) pair with Jordan Portner (Ellicott, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) to take on Alex Aleman and Adam Blasinsky of Duquesne. In the end, the Dukes were victorious, 8-4.

The duo of Khanin and Murphy notched another win for the Blue & Gray when they won their match against George Cartledge and Rafael Ribas of Virginia Tech, 8-4. They were unable to carry the momentum from the win into the second round, however, and lost, 8-2, to Egon Samaai and Jorge Azuero of Liberty.

Georgetown tennis will return to action in January when they participate at the 4-1 Invitational in Richmond, Va.
