Dec. 5, 2014 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne has announced the Hoyas' 2015 schedule, as they match up against five 2014 NCAA Tournament teams, highlighted by three Final Four squads from last season.
The 14-game schedule features eight homes games at Multi-Sport Field, including three of its six BIG EAST Conference games. The Blue & Gray will open in South Bend, Indiana on Saturday, February 14 when they meet last year's national runner-up and former conference foe Notre Dame.
"I'm really excited about our 2015 schedule," Head Coach Kevin Warne said. "Playing five of last year's top-10 teams will prepare us for our BIG EAST Conference slate."
The Hoyas look to return to the BIG EAST Tournament in 2015, after missing out a year ago. They begin conference play on Saturday, March 21 when they host Marquette at noon. The following week, the Blue & Gray travels west to take on defending league champion Denver (March 28). It will be the program's first trip to Denver University.
Three of the Hoyas four April games will come against league opponents, as they travel to Providence (April 4), before hosting Villanova (April 11). GU will conclude its season with Senior Day on Saturday, April 25 when they host St. John's.
Georgetown's non-conference slate will feature four familiar opponents, as GU welcomes Towson (Feb. 21) and Hofstra (Feb. 28) this season, after playing at both schools in 2014. The Hoyas will continue their series with Mount St. Mary's, traveling to Emmitsburg, Md. on Wednesday, March 4 to take on the Mountaineers.
The Hoyas will welcome two new teams to MSF, when they meet Hobart (March 7) for the first time since 2009 and Vermont (March 10) for the first time since 2005. Defending National Champion Duke (March 14) returns to the schedule after a one-year hiatus in the series.
Georgetown will continue its series with Loyola (March 18), traveling to Baltimore, Md. for a midweek game. The Hoyas will also travel to Charlottesville, Va. to play Virginia (April 18) for the first time since 2006 to round out their non-conference schedule.
The BIG EAST Championships are scheduled for the first week of May, as the semifinal round will be held on Thursday, May 1, with the BIG EAST Championship Game to be held on Saturday, May 3.
