WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's tennis squad made the short trip up to Baltimore on Sunday to face the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins and took the match by a 5-2 final. The Hoyas took four of five singles matchups to secure the victory.
Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) defeated Jeremy Dubin 6-2, 7-6(6) from the No. 1 singles position. At No. 2 singles, freshman Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) was victorious over Tanner Brown in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) fell to Noah Joachim in three sets, 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-5, from the No. 3 position.
Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) defeated Erik Lim, 6-4, 6-2 from the No. 4 slot and Jack Murphy (Coronado, Calif./Corona Del Mar) took down Jeffrey McKenzie in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Blue Jays duo of Emerson Walsh and Michael Buxbaum were victorious over John Brosens (Bedford, N.Y./Brunswick School) and Jordan Portner (Ellicott, Md./Mount Saint Joseph), 6-3, 3-6, 10-8, playing from the No. 1 slot.
In No. 2 doubles, Andrew Dottino (New York, N.Y./Pendleton) and Mac Rechan (Clayton, Mo./Clayton) triumphed over David Perez and Justin Kang, 6-7, 6-1, 10-5.
Georgetown will return to Baltimore, Md., on April 2 for a matchup against Morgan State.
