Final Stats

WASHINGTON - Despite winning three of the six singles matchups, the Georgetown men's tennis team dropped a close match at No. 17 UC San Diego on Sunday afternoon by a final of 4-3. The deciding point came in doubles play with the Tritons edging out the Blue & Gray as they won at the No. 1 and 2 positions, respectively.

Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) took the first set from Eric Tseng at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, but Tseng bounced back and defeated Khanin in sets two (6-4) and three (7-6) to take the point. Shane Korber (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) was defeated by Horea Porutiu 7-6, 7-5 from the No. 2 slot.

Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) picked up his second win of the spring season when he was victorious over Mark Meyer, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 3 position. Teammate Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) was also victorious taking down Alexandre Miaule 7-6, 6-3 from the No. 4 spot.

Jack Murphy (Coronado, Calif./La Jolla County Day) earned the win from the No. 5 as he defeated Justin Zhang in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, from the No. 5 position. Mac Rechan (Clayton, Mo./Clayton), making his third spring appearance for the Blue & Gray, was defeated by Kona Luu at the No. 6 spot, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

With the score tied 3-3 in singles, the match came down to the doubles point, and the Tritons would emerge victorious.

Alex Bouillin and Rajeev Herekar defeated John Brosens (Bedford, N.Y./Brunswick School) and Beatty 7-5 at the No. 1 spot. Miaule and Porutiu were victorious over Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and Andrew Dottino (New York, N.Y./Pendleton) 6-3 from the No. 2 position.

The Blue & Gray picked up a win from the No. 3 position as Jordan Portner (Ellicott, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and Khanin teamed up to defeat Tseng and Luu 6-4.
