April 6, 2015

WASHINGTON - Freshman goalie Nick Marrocco (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) was named the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the No. 17 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (7-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) to a win over Providence College on Saturday.

Marrocco made 18 saves, allowed just six goals and picked up three ground balls to move the Hoyas to 2-1 in league play. He now leads the BIG EAST and is third in the nation averaging 13.18 saves per game. His .553 save percentage is second in the league and 19th in the country.

Earlier in the season, Marrocco earned the honor after a 17-save performance in a win over Hofstra.

Senior attack Bo Stafford (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) scored two goals and had two assists to lead the offense. Stafford was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on March 23 and makes the weekly honor roll for the second time this season. Stafford leads the Hoyas with 37 points (21 goals, 16 assists) and is fifth in the BIG EAST averaging 3.45 points per game.

The Hoyas return to action on Saturday, April 11 when they host BIG EAST rival Villanova at Multi-Sport Field. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
